On 6–7 November 2025, the partners of the DIGIDEM (Fostering Digital Democracy and Citizenship in Higher Education) project gathered in Calabria, Italy, for the Content Development Meeting hosted by Università della Calabria. The two-day meeting brought together representatives from all partner institutions to review progress, finalize research findings from Work Package 2, and collaboratively design the structure of the upcoming digital learning platform, NetizenSphere.
The meeting was organized by Università della Calabria (Italy), which welcomed partners from Université Clermont Auvergne (France), Association Les Militants des Savoirs (France), Qualify Just – IT Solutions and Consulting (Portugal), University of Malta (Malta), and Insight S.A. (Luxembourg). The Sürdürülebilir Eğitim ve Sağlık Akademisi Derneği (SEHA) from Türkiye attended the meeting online, actively contributing to discussions on integrating inclusive and culturally diverse approaches into the digital citizenship curriculum.
During the sessions, partners shared updates on the collaborative research phase (WP2), presented national analyses on digital democracy and media literacy, and began shaping the pedagogical and technical design of the NetizenSphere platform — a central outcome of the DIGIDEM project aimed at fostering ethical, responsible, and informed digital participation among higher education students.
The meeting also included interactive workshops on:
Defining common pedagogical standards for the digital citizenship modules;
Harmonizing research data collected from partner countries;
Developing innovative content to address online misinformation, hate speech, and civic engagement;
Outlining the next steps for pilot testing and dissemination under upcoming work packages.
The DIGIDEM consortium reaffirmed its shared commitment to promoting digital ethics, media literacy, and civic responsibility in higher education across Europe. The collaborative spirit in Calabria highlighted the project’s strength in uniting universities, NGOs, and research organizations around a common vision — building a safer, more democratic digital future.
The next consortium meeting is planned for early 2026, where partners will evaluate the platform prototype and prepare the implementation phase in higher education institutions.
